Alamo Heights
Now here’s a fact you might find interesting: Alamo Heights is a city within the city of San Antonio! Alamo Heights incorporated as a separate city in 1922, with its own local government, an independent school district, a very focused business committee intent on carefully growing its already thriving economy, and an active Zoning and Planning Commission that tightly regulates growth and construction style.
Alamo Heights is a unique combination of past and present. The city prides itself on its genuine village atmosphere (which it takes great pains to maintain) and on its place in Texas history. The city is full of historic homes and buildings, and many of the 7,400 residents were born here and are planning to stay. The median family income is considerably higher in Alamo Heights, at around $92,000/year.
Alamo Heights is located about 5 miles northeast of San Antonio’s city centre. Back in the old days the area was an Indian campground and a favorite resting place for explorers. In 1897 the Brackenridge Family sold an estate and 200 acres of land to the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Today Incarnate Word College marks the boundary line between San Antonio and Alamo Heights. Fernridge, the estate that was sold with the land, is preserved as a museum.
We’re served by the San Antonio International Airport, and backed up Stinson Airport, which is excellent for most domestic travel. But more than that, Alamo Heights is a great city to walk. The neighborhoods are fantastic to stroll through and the folks are friendly. There is first-rate shopping and dining here, and if you want more San Antonio is just a short drive away.

A sale of a house is just a sale, right? Not necessarily. If you are selling your house to your children or transferring title outside the open market, then the transaction may be characterized as "not at arm's length".
